Oradell is a Bergen County borough with a population of about 8,000 people. The borough has an area of just under 2.5 square miles, and its territory includes a dam on the Hackensack River that forms the Oradell Reservoir. The borough is bordered by the Reservoir, as well as the municipalities of Emerson and New Milford.

The community that is now called Oradell was incorporated in 1894 as Delford, New Jersey. It was the community’s second mayor, Daniel Demarest, who is credited with giving the community its present name sometime before 1876.

Oradell has been home to several notable residents. Famous athletes and coaches, such as Bill Parcells and Jim Finn have called Oradell home. As have musicians Chris Collingwood, Nelson Riddle, and astronaut Walter Schirra, Jr.

There are several golf clubs in close proximity to Oradell, including the Ridgewood Country Club, Haworth Country Club and White Beaches Golf and Country Club, and Emerson Country Club. The borough also offers a variety of services, such as a public library and recreation programs for all ages.

Public transportation by New Jersey Transit is available via the Pascack Valley line at the Oradell train station located at Oradell and Maple Avenues.

The Oradell Public School system serves students in kindergarten through sixth grade in one school, The Oradell Public School. Students in grades seven through twelve attend the River Dell Regional School District along with students from nearby River Edge.
