Located in Bergen County, Northvale is a borough with a population of nearly 4,500 residents as of the U.S. 2000 census. The borough offers a convenient location, an interesting history and a strong school system, which attract numerous families and individuals looking for a new community to call home.

Northvale is conveniently located near many services, shopping and educational institutions. The borough is located just a short commuting distance from New York City, and borders New York State to the north. The average commute time for Northvale residents is less than thirty minutes.

Northvale has an active public library, which offers not only an extensive collection of reference materials and books, but also activities, such as a local book club for residents. There are also recreation programs that offer sports for all ages, as well as a cultural arts committee that offers family-friendly field trips and events.

Northvale has an interesting history, and there has even been a book published to record the events of the town, called the “Collected Histories of the Borough of Northvale.” In 1916, the town was officially incorporated the Borough of Northvale. In 1923, portions of Northvale were transferred to Rockleigh, and the remaining portion remains Northvale today.

The Northvale Public Schools serve students in kindergarten through eighth grades. Children in kindergarten through third grade attend Thomas Jefferson School, and students in grades four through eight attend Nathan Hale School. High school students attend Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan.
