Located in the southern tip of Bergen County, the borough of North Arlington has an area of 2.6 square miles and a population of approximately 15,500 residents. The borough has an interesting history, an active community and an excellent location that makes it a popular choice for families relocating to Northern New Jersey.

North Arlington was incorporated on March 11, 1896 from an area taken from Union Township. During the 18th and 19th centuries, coal was mined in the area, making it the first true copper mine in North America.

Today, North Arlington has an active population of families, seniors and other individuals that enjoy a high quality of life. The borough’s Recreation Department offers a variety of programs for all ages throughout the year. Men’s basketball, women’s volleyball and exercise classes are just some of the activities offered for the adult population. The youth programs offer basketball, baseball, football, cheerleading and a variety of other sports year-round.

The borough also sponsors a variety of parades, festivals and events. A tree lighting ceremony in December, a Memorial Day Parade and Movie Under the Stars event in July are just a few of the activities enjoyed be residents.

The North Arlington School District educates students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Schools in the district include three pre-kindergarten through grade five elementary schools, one middle school, and North Arlington High School for grades nine through twelve.
