Not to be confused with the unincorporated community of Fairview in Monmouth County, Fairview is a borough in Bergen County located approximately five miles from Manhattan. As of the 2000 census, Fairview had a population of 13,255 residents. Fairview is a densely populated community of single-family and multi-family homes, along with a few apartment buildings and condominiums. There are a variety of shopping and dining options located in town, and the extensive entertainment and recreation opportunities located throughout Bergen County are easily accessible.

Commuters can ride New Jersey Transit busses to the Port Authority Bus terminal in Manhattan, as well as to other central locations throughout Northern New Jersey. Fairview is located just a few short miles from the Lincoln Tunnel and the New Jersey Turnpike, so commuters who might not work in Manhattan, Jersey City or Newark, have quick and easy access to major highways.

The main commercial district in Fairview is located along Anderson Avenue, where residents enjoy the many restaurants, as well as several coffee houses, delicatessens and banks. There is also a grocer, a fish market, and many small independent shops. For additional shopping, New York City is a short distance away, there is a large mall at Newport Center in Jersey City, many outlet stores in Secaucus and various strip malls located along both sides of Routes 1 and 9 just to the west of Fairview.
